KARACHI: Sindh Cabinet on Monday (3rd February) has approved the Agriculture Tax bill that shall come into effect from January, 2025 and will be collected Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) instead of the Board of Revenue (BOR).

While livestock sector has been exempted, in case of natural disasters adjustments will be made to the agriculture tax too. While speaking from the floor of Provincial Assembly Sindh CM warned: “Taxing agriculture will also result in higher wheat, rice, and other grain prices.”
It is pertinent to mention here that IMF had been pushing for the imposition of income tax on agriculture.
