ISLAMABAD: Appointment of six new judges have been approved here by the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) during a rendezvous with CJP in the chair on Monday (10th Feb) though PTI lawmakers (Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Senator Ali Zafar) and two senior SC judges (Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Munib Akhtar) opted to abstain.
According to details, Sindh High Court’s Justice Salahuddin Panhwar, Justice Shafi Siddiqui, Balochistan High Court’s Hashim Khan Kakar, Peshawar High Court’s Justice Shakeel Ahmed and Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim have been appointed. Islamabad High Court’s Chief Justice Aamer Farooq was also elevated to Supreme Court of Pakistan.

Barrister Gohar Khan and Senator Ali Zafar, while talking to journalists Monday (10th Feb), pointed out that the objection of PTI was that the meeting should not convene until a decision on 26th Constitutional Amendment was made. It may be recalled that PTI had filed petitions against the 26th Amendment, which were still pending.
