ISLAMABAD: Journalists’ trade unions, terming terrorism and narcotics case against senior journalist Matiullah Jan as ridiculous, demanded his immediate release here on Thursday (28th November, 2024).
According to details, Matiullah Jan had been reporting about the 24th November so-called Last-Call of Imran Khan. He was arrested from here and produced before a magistrate who remanded him to police custody for two days. PM’s Adviser Rana Sanaullah rejected the FIR against Matiullah Jan as a concocted and fabricated story.
Sanaullah held that such stories were often fabricated when needed: “They’ve been made against us, and they were made against me as well”. Pointing towards the Inspector General of Islamabad Police he said that the only thing that should be done was that those who made that fake story should be punished and the victim should be released.
