Terrorism and extremism a burden on Pakistan: Shahbaz Sharif




LAHORE: Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif said on Tuesday that terrorism and extremism are the most serious threats facing the nation.

“Terrorism is a burden on Pakistan and we must eliminate it once and for all,” Sharif said, adding that terrorists have no faith or religion.

Punjab CM said that the recent terrorist attack on Civil Hospital Quetta is a ‘national tragedy’. He said that the nation’s sympathy is with the families of the martyred.

Shahbaz Sharif further said that the journey towards progress, prosperity and peace is in progress and the war against terrorism and extremism would continue till complete elimination of this menace.

“With the support of the nation and with the help of a unified effort, we will be able to defeat the terrorists. They are a burden on our homeland and we must eliminate them.”

He said ongoing operation Zarb-e-Azb would continue till elimination of the last terrorist from the country.

Yesterday’s attack in Quetta claimed the lives of more than seventy people and injured scores of others. The attack withdrew worldwide condemnations from the United States as well as the United Nations.
