PARIS: The “2024 Paris·Prince Gong’s Mansion Fashion Show” made a stunning appearance. The beauty of China’s excellent traditional culture blooms again in the fashion capital.
In the golden autumn season, the Seine River is full of clouds and shadows. On September 28, 2024, Paris time, the “2024 Paris·Prince Gong’s Mansion Fashion Show” hosted by the Prince Gong’s Mansion Museum of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism made a stunning appearance in the Wagram Hall in Paris.
Chinese Ambassador to France Lu Shazhen, Minister Chen Li, and more than 300 guests from political and business circles, fashion circles, education, science and technology, and cultural institutions such as UNESCO, the General Directorate of International Relations and Strategy, the French National Scientific Research Agency, the French National Academy of Fine Arts, and the Chateau de Chantilly attended the event.
In order to implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s instructions on strengthening cultural confidence, deepening academic research, innovating exhibitions and displays, promoting the revitalization and utilization of cultural relics, and promoting exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations, the Prince Gong’s Mansion Museum has been focusing on ancient buildings and collection resources for many years, from more than 200 years of rich historical and cultural information and unique ancient popular cultural elements.
In the process of studying, refining and exploring the essence and value of China’s excellent traditional culture, actively exploring new contexts and new entrances for contemporary expression of China’s excellent traditional culture, and striving to achieve the creative transformation and innovative development of China’s excellent traditional culture.
In the context of the era when the leaders of China and France announced the full launch of cultural exchanges, in September 2023, the first “Prince Gong’s Mansion Fashion Show” was successfully held in Paris, France, allowing the world to see the inheritance and development of China’s excellent traditional culture in China.
2024 coincides with the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France. The distance of thousands of miles is not far. In order to further deepen cooperation, promote exchanges, and promote friendly exchanges between the peoples of the two countries, as one of the projects of the China-France Cultural Tourism Year, the “2024 Paris Prince Gong’s Mansion Fashion Show” has arrived again as scheduled.
This event is co-organized by the Chinese Cultural Center in Paris, with the Academy of Fine Arts of Tsinghua University as the academic support unit, and Beijing Lawrence Xu Clothing Co., Ltd. and Beijing International Design Week Co., Ltd. as the executive units. Lawrence Xu, an internationally renowned fashion designer, served as the manager of this fashion show, leading young and cutting-edge designers, 48 sets of high-end costumes were displayed on site.
By incorporating representative historical and cultural elements of Prince Gong’s Mansion such as “The First Blessing in the World”, “Fuqing Youyu”, “Haibian Ceiling”, and “Western Mansion Begonia”, using traditional Chinese colors and traditional intangible cultural heritage crafts such as embroidery, mother-of-pearl, and brocade, and using academic research results as theoretical support, the ingenious oriental aesthetics were spread to the world in a fashionable and cross-border way.
The light of civilizations reflects each other. Think about it and practice it. The grand event held in the Wagram Hall in Paris in September is not only a witness to the friendship between China and France, but also a symphony of Eastern and Western civilizations.
Prince Gong’s Mansion Museum hopes to take the “Prince Gong’s Mansion Fashion Show” as an opportunity to continuously promote the integration of China’s excellent traditional culture with contemporary life, deepen the exchange and mutual learning between Eastern and Western civilizations, promote the global expression of Chinese stories and Chinese voices, and continuously enhance the influence of China’s excellent traditional culture in the world.
