We are about to enter a decisive struggle: Maryam Nawaz

LAHORE: Addressing a PML-N parliamentarians and ticket-holders’ convention here today (8th of October, 2020) Vice President of PML-N Maryam Nawaz held:  “We are about to enter a decisive struggle.”

Deposed PM Mian Nawaz Sharif participated through video link from London in the convention. Addressing the convention, he said the country was facing multiple challenges. He said that during his tenure as PM, he successfully managed, in a short span of time, to put the country on the road to progress.

Conspicuous among others there were Raja Zafar-ul-Haq, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Ahsan Iqbal, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Maryam Nawaz and Rana Sanaullah. Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Javed Hashmi and Maryam Nawaz also addressed the rally.

Flanked by PML-N stalwarts, Maryam Nawaz asked party leaders to gear up for an anti-government campaign under the banner of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM).

It is pertinent to mention here that PDM is all set to hold its first public rally in Gujranwala on 16th of Oct, followed by Karachi, Quetta, Peshawar, Multan, and Lahore on 18th, 25th Oct., 22nd, 30th Nov., and 13th December, 2020.

Commenting on court’s order to run advertisements in major newspapers proclaiming deposed PM Nawaz Sharif as an absconder, she said: “You can put up Nawaz’s photo in advertisements, but when you place an ad for absconders then people will see a reflection of former president retired Gen Pervez Musharraf.”

Addressing the ladies and gentlemen in the audience PML-N’s VP said that other party leaders put their workers’ lives at risk by forcing them to face the vicissitudes and ground realities while themselves they hide in containers.

She further assured the workers: “Nawaz has not abandoned his workers. He was the first to take all the hits, and now it is our time.”

Maryam Nawaz said: “The parliamentarians present here are witness to the fact that the sanctity of the vote that has been violated…The rigging of the (2018 general elections) had begun three months prior…the vote was not respected, and the requirement for bringing people into power was only that they obey orders.”

She held: “When Nawaz Sharif fights for the people’s rights and demands that the rule of law should reign supreme he is nominated in treason cases…What kind of traitor does six nuclear tests in response to five nuclear tests?”

VP of PML-N Maryam Nawaz maintained that Nawaz Sharif had not only strengthen Pakistan’s defense systems, he had built infrastructure including roads sturdy enough to allow fighter jets land and take off.

She claimed that though Pakistan was suffering from economic crisis at that epoch PM Sharif managed to contain terrorism in the country. She went on to claim: “When Nawaz came into power, load-shedding would take place for 20 hours in the country. We (almost) finished it in our tenure”.

The convention also passed a resolution unanimously.
