BEIJING: On the occasion of the birthday of Mao Zedong (26th Dec 2024), China has revealed two diamond-shaped tailless stealth aircraft (currently undergoing flight testing) designed by Chengdu Aircraft Corporation (CAC) and Shenyang Aircraft Corporation (SAC), marking a significant step in its next-generation fighter program.
While the larger jet, created by CAC, happens to harbour two-engine power-plant, SAC’s smaller jet features two engines. Sans tails these jets provide more internal space for weapons and fuel. New design also reduces radar signature and aerodynamic performance. Experts insinuate that China is attempting to integrate manned fighters with unmanned ones.
