IK’s Final Call: Rawalpindi admin places containers to block PTI marchers on 24th Nov

RAWALPINDI: The administration here has imposed Section 144 (till 26th Nov) and placed containers (for the time being on the sides of) major arteries in order to stop PTI marchers on 24th Nov.

Adiala Jail – harbouring PTI Chief – is one of the 50 locations that will be hermetically sealed by 4,500 cops deployed in the city to maintain law and order situation on Sunday.

While warning that mobile phone and internet services will remain suspended on Sunday, Islamabad administration, had sought 1200 containers and 22,000 security personnel (from FC, Punjab and Sindh Police).

Anticipating an enormous number of people, Capital Police also demanded 40,000 (long as well as short range) teargas shells, 2000 teargas lobbing guns, 2500 guns alongwith 50,000 rubber bullets and 5000 anti-riot gears.

A week before the PTI’s power show, administration here had imposed Section 144 on 18th Nov for two months (prohibiting an assembly of four or more).

While cynics go haywire wondering how PTI will arrange logistics for the power show, PTI’s Ali Amin Gandapur, CM of KP, said: “Imran’s sister Aleema Khan has announced the date of protest, preparations have been completed and this time there will be no turning back”.

Commenting on Section 144 PTI leader Taimur Saleem Khan Jhagra termed it malafied and illegal as it was imposed every time Imran Khan called for a protest.

PTI Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh met lawyers associated with Karachi Bar Association, inviting them to participate in the march of Last Call: “The Karachi Bar Association has always played a pivotal role in defending the judiciary and upholding the law, especially in opposing the 26th constitutional amendment.”

It may be recalled that Imran Khan on 13th Nov had given the final call asking his supporters to converge here on Sunday 24th November to protest against:

1) Stolen mandate;

2) Unjust arrests; and

3) The way 26th constitutional amendment bill was passed.
