GREENLAND: Responding to Trump’s rêve apropos annexing the Island, the govt here maintained, “The United States has once again reiterated its desire to take over Greenland. This is something that the governing coalition in Greenland cannot accept under any circumstances.”
Leaders of Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Poland and Spain, underlining their support for Denmark against US claims on Greenland, maintained on 6th Jan, 2026 that territorial integrity was universal principle that they would continue to defend.

Pointing towards the state of affairs in Venezuela (after American military intervention), President Donald Trump said on 4th Jan that USA would worry about Greenland in 2 months.
Joint statement on Greenland: Statement by President Macron of France, Chancellor Merz of Germany, Prime Minister Meloni of Italy, Prime Minister Tusk of Poland, Prime Minister Sánchez of Spain, Prime Minister Starmer of the United Kingdom and Prime Minister Frederiksen of Denmark on Greenland. Arctic security remains a key priority for Europe and it is critical for international and transatlantic security.
NATO has made clear that the Arctic region is a priority and European Allies are stepping up. We and many other Allies have increased our presence, activities and investments, to keep the Arctic safe and to deter adversaries. The Kingdom of Denmark – including Greenland – is part of NATO. Security in the Arctic must therefore be achieved collectively, in conjunction with NATO allies including the United States, by upholding the principles of the UN Charter, including sovereignty, territorial integrity and the inviolability of borders.
These are universal principals, and we will not stop defending them. The United States is an essential partner in this endeavor, as a NATO ally and through the defense agreement between the Kingdom of Denmark and the United States of 1951. Greenland belongs to its people. It is for Denmark and Greenland, and them only, to decide on matters concerning Denmark and Greenland.

Intelligence Agencies have reported on 27th Aug, 2025 that Americans were being infiltrated in the Greenland society in order to promote its secession from Denmark to USA. After receiving reports apropos US citizens who were involved in such covert activities, Chargé d’affaires was summoned to inform that no such conspiracy would be tolerated. Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen stated: “Any attempt to interfere in the internal affairs of the Kingdom [of Denmark] will of course be unacceptable.”
When Trump reiterated on 8th Jan, 2025 his desire to buy or seize Greenland using military force, PM Mute Egede made clear the territory was not for sale. While Denmark maintained that it belonged to its inhabitants, reacting to Trump’s refusal to rule out using military force to capture Greenland, French FM Jean-Noël Barrot held EU would not let other nations attack its borders. US President Donald Trump, who had not ruled out utilizing military force to get Greenland, believes its annexation will bolster national security in the Arctic region. In a heated 45-minute telephonic conversation with Trump last week Danish PM Mette Frederiksen made it clear that the island was not for sale. Greenland’s PM Mute Egede stated that use of the territory’s land was Greenland’s business!

It may be recalled that Trump floated the idea of buying the mineral-rich, world’s largest island, in his first term as president in 2019. Undaunted by the PMs’ remarks, Donald Trump, while talking to journalists in the Press room onboard Air Force One on 25th Jan, 2025 said he thought that US was going to have Greenland: “I don’t really know what claim Denmark has to it, but it would be a very unfriendly act if they didn’t allow that to happen because it’s for the protection of the free world.“
Maintaining that US control of Greenland was an absolute necessity for international security, President Donald Trump claimed that the fifty-seven thousand Greenlanders wanted to be with the United States of America. It is pertinent to mention though the Island is under Danish control for the last three centuries, US with bases and troops in it can take Greenland’s control.
US Vice-President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance landed at PITUFFIK SPACE BASE (Greenland) on 28th March, 2025 for a visit to military base. Among others there were National Security Adviser Mike Waltz and Energy Secretary Chris Wright in his delegation. It is pertinent to mention here that the visit of Vance was not welcomed by the Copenhagen as his boss Trump has been talking about annexing the strategically placed Greenland maintaining that procurement of the island would augment the international and US security.
According to Internet monitor Netblocks, authorities had imposed a total connectivity blackout on 8th January. Supreme leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said that those manifesting on the streets were attempting to please Trump whose hands are soaked with Irani blood.

As Khamenei maintained that the regime would not give up, thousands of rioters, chanting slogans such as ‘death to the dictator’ are setting official batiments on fire either financed by regime-changers or genuinely angered over the inflation, rising cost of living and ever depreciating currency.

Protests have spread across Iran since December 28, beginning in response to soaring inflation, and quickly turning political with protesters demanding an end to clerical rule. Authorities accuse the US and Israel of fomenting unrest.
