Intelligence agencies kill six terrorists linked to al-Qaeda in Okara




OKARA: Six terrorists have been killed in a joint operation conducted by police and intelligence agencies near Okara town of Punjab on Wednesday.

According to details, police and intelligence agencies personnel in a joint operation killed six terror suspects and recovered illegal arms in a village adjoining to Okara.

District Police Officer Faisal Rana said the intelligence personnel and police on a cue conducted a raid at a house in a nearby village, which was turned into a shootout between the terrorists and the law enforcement personnel.

“Operation against the alleged terrorists was carried out on information about the presence of terrorists, belonging to al-Qaeda, in a house at a village near Okara,” said Rana adding that the shootout left six terrorists dead and two security personnel injured.

“The terrorists were sheltered at a house owned by a local resident Naeem Jhakkar where police found DPO office maps and arms including Kalashnikovs, explosives, rocket launcher, a suicide vest, and detonators.”

The terrorists seem like Afghan nationals, Rana added.
