Actor Athar Shah Khan (Jaidi) is no more

KARACHI: Actor, writer and poet Athar Shah Khan, widely known for his character of ill-dressed loony Jaidi, expired here today due to stroke.  

Commencing his career in state-controlled Radio Pakistan Jaidi had  penned some seven hundred plays.

His prolific pen yielded a number of dramas for TV through out the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s.

Most known were Intezar Farmaiay, Lakhon Mein Teen, Ba Adab Ba Mulahiza Hoshiyar, Haye Jaidi . However, this name is totally alien for the new generation.athar shah khan CopyKARACHI: Athar Shah Khan’s televised play Jaidi Ke Sang and Intezar Farmaiye  (featuring himself as Jaidi) made him a household name in the 70s.  Today’s viewers are absolutely unaware of his works.

Jaidi is survived by his wife and four sons.
