Ban on import of luxury items

ISLAMABAD: As rupee touched 200 against US$ on Wednesday (17th of May, 2022) due to political and economic uncertainty, concerned quarters hesitantly came out of hibernation to impose ban on import of luxury items.

However, savants at the helm of affairs are of the view that such attempts would fail to stop the plummeting rupee.

In order to bridle the continuous depreciation of rupee against dollar, a ban has been imposed on import of non-essential/luxury commodities.

According to sources cars above 1000cc, mobile phones, power generation units, steel products, home appliances will become costlier.
