BCCI sacks Anil Kumble as coach of Indian cricket team

MUMBAI: Indian cricket team’s head coach Anil Kumble has been sacked from his post, two days after Indian team’s loss against Pakistan in the final of ICC Champions Trophy 2017.

According to Indian media, skipper Kohli, in a meeting with the Cricket Advisory Committee comprising Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman, made it clear that his relationship with Kumble had reached a dead end.

However, an official in the BCCI has denied any connection of the meeting with Kumble’s dismissal.

“Kumble’s contract had expired and he did not wish to continue his job as the team’s head coach,” the official added.

Tendulkar, Ganguly and Laxman have been given the task of selecting the team’s next coach.
