Bldg. collapses in Malir, Pak Army joins rescue op.

KARACHI: Yet another structure (constructed using sub-standard material by non-professionals), built just 30 years ago, collapsed taking a toll of at least three lives here in Malir area today.

According to sources privy to NPTV the structure harbored 25 inhabitants. And since the decrepit structure fell to pieces at 7 am rescue workers, who had pulled only two survivors out so far, assume that not less than 12 more people are still buried under the debris. Owner of the building & his spouse too died in the incident. PMDA was not seen at the site of the disaster.

Anticipating more casualties, rescue officials sought the support from Pakistan Army that is currently helping in removing the rubble utilizing heavy machinery.  While CM and Governor…prompted to take ‘notices’, leaders of PTI, PPP-P, and MQM-P reached the site (apparently – to grasp at the photo-opportunity).  Among those who visited the site, was Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Syed Ali Haider Zaidi. who directed KPT & PQA teams to take part in the rescue operation.

Cynics go haywire wondering where the Rip Van Winkles were slumbering when shoddy concrete and glass jungle was coming up for decades with the connivance of corrupt officials!
