JERUSALEM: In his opinion piece run by daily Haaretz on Thursday (22nd August, 2024) Israeli Major Gen (R) Yitzhak Brik has predicted that the Jewish Country would collapse within a year if it fails to contain war with Hamas and Hezbollah.
“The country really is galloping towards the edge of an abyss…If the War of Attrition against Hamas and Hezbollah continues, Israel will collapse within no more than a year,” he predicted.
Brik, maintaining that Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has begun to realize that the concept of total victory in Gaza is nonsense, held that most of the pretentious declarations made by him throughout the war in Gaza had proven to be groundless.
“With these pronouncements, Gallant, along with his colleagues IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has been throwing dust in the eyes of the Israeli public...
“It seems that he has begun to realize that failing to reach a hostage deal with Hamas would lead to a regional war that would put Israel in serious danger.”
It may be recalled that retaliating to Hamas’ 7th October, 2023 attack, Israel has so far killed 40,000 Palestinians. Cynics go haywire reading Brik’s article wondering how one of the mighty US’s minions could just collapse and that too after killing 40,000 men, women and children!!!
