Child dies after being run over by Nawaz’ motorcade

GUJRANWALA: The vehicles of Elite Force accompanying Nawaz Sharif’s ‘homecoming’ motorcade crushed a child to death in Lalamusa on Friday.

Hamid, 9, was among a crowd of supporters gathered to greet the ousted prime minister as his motorcade passed through Lalamusa.

“It seems that he strayed onto the road and was hit by one of the cars belonging to the Elite Force before multiple following cars ran over him without stopping,” an eyewitness said.

“A car ran over his [Hamid’s] face which resulted in his death,” he said.

Minister for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb later regretted the incident in a statement and asked the local administration to contact the family on behalf of Nawaz Sharif.
