PPP gets 11, PML-N bags 6 seats in Senate Polls

ISLAMABAD: The coalition government emerged victorious in the Senate Polls held on Tuesday (2nd April, 2024) with PPP getting 11 and PML-N bagging 6 seats (out of 19 seats that were up for grabs).

Ishaq Dar, received 222 votes to claim a technocrat seat from here beating SIC’s Raja Ansar Mahmood who bagged 81 votes.

Rana Mehmood-ul-Hassan got 224 votes to win the general seat in Islamabad beating PTI’s Farzand Hussain Shah who got 79 votes.

In Punjab Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb got 128 votes to win a technocrat seat in the Senate.

Punjab Petroleum Minister Musadiq Malik received 121 votes to claim another technical seat in the Senate.

PML-N’s Anusha Rehman (who got 125 votes) and Bushra Anjum who bagged 123 votes, were declared successful on two seats reserved for women.

PML-N’s Khalil Tahir Sindhu won the minority seat.

In Sindh 10 out of 12 seats were taken by PPP candidates. MQM-P’s Amir Chisti and independent candidate Faisal Vawda won the general seats mustering 21 votes up each.

PPP’s Ashraf Ali Jatoi (22 votes), Dost Ali Jessar (21 votes), Kazim Ali Shah (21 votes), Masroor Ahsan (21 votes), Nadeem Bhutto (21 votes) emerged victorious on Sindh general seats.

PPP’s Zamir Ghumro (vho got 58 votes) and Sarmad Ali (who bagged 57 votes) won the technocrat seats.

Seats reserved for women in Sindh were won by PPP’s Rubina Saadat Qaimkhani (who bagged 57 votes) and Quratulain Marri (who got 58 votes).

On minority seat PPP’s Poonjo Bheel was declared successful.
