DUBAI: Mohammad Shahzad’s 124 encouraged other players of Afghanistan muster-up 253 for 8 (Shahzad 124, Nabi 64, Jadeja 3-46) leading to a tie with India 252 (Rahul 60, Nabi 2-40, Rashid 2-41).
The 110 runs scored by openers Lokendra Rahul (60) and Ambati Rayudu (57) gave Indians a momentum: Rahul hit five boundaries and a six in his 66-ball innings while Rayudu’s 49-ball innings had four sixes and four boundaries. Dinesh Karthik scored 44 and Jadeja ‘s bat produced 25 runs. Spinners Rashid, Mohammad Nabi, and paceman Aftab Alam took two wickets apiece.
It is pertinent to mention here that in the Super-4 Cup match, India rested five top players (skipper Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar) because they had already qualified for Friday’s final. The winner of today’s match between Pakistan and Bangladesh will face India in the final to played here.
