,FLORIDA: A sniper identified as 58-year-old Hawaii resident Ryan Routh, armed with a scoped AK-47, got within a few hundred yards of the 45th (Republican) president of USA Donald Trump (as he played at Trump International Golf Club here) on Sunday (15th September, 2024) but failed to assassinate him.

According to County Sheriff the suspect took cover some three to five hundred yards from Trump around 2 PM. A Secret Service agent fired at him after seeing the muzzle of his gun pointing through a chain-link fence. He fled the scene dropping a number of items including the Kalashnikov.

Ryan Routh was nabbed after a witness shared photo of his black Nissan car and license plate with authorities who are treating the case as an assassination attempt. The suspect who was arrested a number of times in the past, donated for Democrats, is a supporter of Ukraine’s war against Russia.

On 21st April Ryan Routh took to the Twitter (X) to write to Elon Musk: “I would like to buy a rocket from you. I wish to load it with a warhead for Putin’s Black sea mansion bunker to end him. Can you give me a price please!”

When CNN approached the suspect’s son Oran he said: “I don’t know what’s happened in Florida, and I hope things have just been blown out of proportion.”
