ISLAMABAD: Following intensive, (21-hour long) marathon negotiations, Vice President J D Vance told the journalists during a brief Presser held here on Sunday (12th April, 2026) morning, that they were going back to US with no agreement as Iran was not willing to meet US terms.

JD Vance proclaimed that the Iranian delegation had chosen not to accept their Final & Best Offer: “The simple fact is that we need to see an affirmative commitment that they will not seek a nuclear weapon, and they will not seek the tools that would enable them to quickly achieve a nuclear weapon.”

Briefing the Media, JD Vance stated: “We have been at it now for 21 hours, and we have had a number of substantive discussions, that’s the good news. The bad news is that we have not reached an agreement. I think that’s bad news for Iran much more than it’s bad news for the United States of America.”

He informed: “We have made very clear what our red lines are, what things we are willing to accommodate them on and what things we are not willing to accommodate them on.”

Answering to queries, JD Vance asserted, that the basic demand of USA was a pledge from Tehran that the country would not pursue nukes: “That is the core goal of the President of the United States, and that’s what we’ve tried to achieve through these negotiations.” He lamented the US had not seen that undertaking, “we hope that we will”.

“The US now understands Iran’s principles”: MB Ghalibaf.

Speaker of the Parliament of Iran posts on X

Leader of the Irani delegation MB Ghalibaf took to the X to state: “Iran entered the negotiations with serious intent, but past experiences from previous wars left Tehran sceptical. The US failed to earn Iran’s trust despite Iran’s goodwill and constructive proposals during the latest round of talks.

Ghalibaf believes that: “The US now understands Iran’s principles and must decide whether it can gain Iran’s trust. Iran views ‘power diplomacy’ as a key tool, alongside military resistance, to secure the nation’s rights and will not stop working to consolidate the achievements of its 40 days of national defence.”
