Doctors’ strike of OPDs enters into 3rd day

HYDERABAD: The doctors strike at Outdoor Patients Department of all public sector hospitals of Sindh province has entered into the third consecutive day on Wednesday.
As a result of strike at the OPDs of public sector hospitals of the province, thousands of patients who came to hospitals for clinical examinations went unchecked also on the third day.
The doctors are on strike on the call of joint action committee being supported by Young Doctors Association, Pakistan Medical Association Sindh Chapter and other doctors organizations following the nonacceptance of their demands.
The demands including the grant of the salary of doctors of Sindh equal to salaries being drawn by doctors of Punjab province, promotion of doctors on basis of seniority, stoppage of taking illegal gratification for promotion and postings of doctors, elimination of misappropriation in the procurement of medicines and other equipment.
The leaders of the joint action committee strongly criticized the attitude of Sindh Health Minister who refused to meet with representatives of doctors. They maintained that their protest will continue till acceptance of demands.
