Excessive sun exposure major cause of skin diseases in summer

ISLAMABAD: Skin specialist has advised citizens of the metropolitan to increase water intake and avoid direct contact with sunlight as excessive sun exposure is major reason behind skin diseases in summer season.

A dermatologist Dr Amina Umair said in an interview that people should adopt healthy lifestyle in personal life by using hygienic food, remaining clean, using separate towel, wearing light coloured dress and consuming fresh water to avoid seasonal skin diseases.

She further said that low-quality cosmetics are another common factor responsible for causing acne. To avoid skin diseases this summer, she advised people to strengthen their immune system, wear comfortable and loose clothes, and take regular baths.

People should avoid using greasy or harsh products or those whose ingredients you are allergic to, adding, these products tend to clog your skin pores and irritate your skin, and result in acne breakouts.

She urged people to wash the parts of the body exposed to the heat with fresh water when they sweat and to sprinkle talcum powder on sensitive areas of the body.
