Fatima Jinnah died 55 years ago

KARACHI: 55th Death Anniversary of Mader-e-Millat (Mother of the Nation) Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah is being observed today.

Fatima Jinnah died in Karachi at the age of 71 on 9th of July 1967 in mysterious circumstances and was buried in the premises of the mausoleum of the Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.
Fatima Jinnah, sister of the founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, was born in 1893.
Most of the historians believe that she was born in a rented house Wazir Mansion in Kharadar (previously) in Lyari area.
Mader-e-Millat Fatima Jinnah graduated from the University of Calcutta and went on to become a dental surgeon.
After the death of the Quaid’s wife, Fatima Jinnah shunned her practice and dedicated her life to support Jinnah’s mission.
Fatima Jinnah had effectively played a role in empowering the women of Pakistan and held that no nation could prosper unless its female populace endeavors side-by-side its male population.

President Dr. Arif Alvi paying homage to Mader-e-Millat Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah on her death anniversary noted that her leadership role in politics was a source of encouragement for Pakistani women.

Arif Alvi held that her support for Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah strengthened the Tehreek-e-Pakistan.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in his message on the the occasion of the death anniversary of Mader-e-Millat Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah stated: “Entire nation salutes Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah for her remarkable services in independence movement for Pakistan along with her brother Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and later on for rehabilitation of the country.”

Shehbaz Sharif  further pointed out that during the last 19 years of the life of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah remained with him and after the death of Quaid took his mission forward.

Septuagenarian Mader-e-Millat Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah continued to lead a campaign in order to safeguard the democracy till her death.
