WASHINGTON: Exposing the failure of the Iranian Security Agencies, The New York Times has revealed on Thursday (1st of August, 2024) that the bomb that claimed the life of Ismael Haniyeh was smuggled into his room in the Tehran guesthouse months ago and was detonated by a remote controlled device.
Hamas had confirmed that Israel, by means of a bomb, assassinated its Chief of the Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran at 1.45am on Wednesday (31st of July, 2024).
Hamas stated: “In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Do not consider those who have been killed in the way of Allah as dead; rather, they are alive with their Lord, receiving provision.
The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas mourns to the sons of our great Palestinian people, the Arab and Islamic nation, and all the free people of the world:
“Brother leader, martyr, fighter Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of the movement, who passed as a result of a treacherous zionist raid on his residence in Tehran, after participating in the inauguration ceremony of the new Iranian president. We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return.”
Ali Khamenei, Supreme Leader of Iran, while reacting to the murder, maintained since he was killed in Tehran, avenging the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh was the duty of Tehran and Israel had provided the grounds for harsh punishment of itself.
Foreign Office of Pakistan, commenting on the assassination Ismail Haniyeh held: “Pakistan condemns the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the Chief of the Political Bureau of Hamas in Tehran (31st July, 2024). We extend our condolences to his family and the people of Palestine.
“Pakistan condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations including extrajudicial and extraterritorial killings irrespective of the motives.
“We are deeply shocked by the timing of this reckless act. Coinciding with the inauguration of the President of Iran, an event attended by several foreign dignitaries...
“Pakistan views with serious concern the growing Israeli adventurism in the region. Its latest acts constitute a dangerous escalation in an already volatile region and undermine efforts for peace.”
Chinese FO spokesman, commenting on the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran maintained: “We firmly oppose and condemn any assassination and violent act and we are deeply concerned about the potential increase in regional instability due to this incident.”
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan took to the Twitter (X) to state: “I strongly condemn and curse the treacherous assassination carried out in Tehran against Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh.”
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that his country was neither aware of nor involved in the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh.
Deputy Spokesman of Russian FO stated: “We strongly condemn the murder of the head of the political bureau of the Hamas movement, Ismail Haniyeh, as a result of a rocket attack on his residence in Tehran.
“It is obvious that the organizers of this political assassination were aware of the dangerous consequences this action is fraught with for the entire region.
“We urge all parties involved to exercise restraint and abandon any steps that could lead to a dramatic degradation of the security situation in the region and provoke a large-scale armed confrontation.”
Foreign Ministry of Qatar while condemning the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh termed the act a dangerous escalation and a flagrant violation of international and humanitarian law.
