Improved security situation: Zimbabwe hints at sending cricket team to Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: After success of Pakistan Super League (PSL) final in Lahore, many international cricket boards are considering to send their teams to play in Pakistan.

The recent development is that Zimbabwe has signaled to send its cricket squad for a series.

The announcement was made at a meeting between Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada and Zimbabwe Sports Minister Makhosini Hlongwane here on Wednesday.

Zimbabwe Cricket Chairman Tavengwa Mukhlani was also present on the occasion.

The two sides discussed possibilities of bilateral tours between the two countries in the coming months.

Hlongwane announced the decision after Pirzada formally invited the Zimbabwe government to send cricket team to Pakistan. He assured that he would ask his country’s cricket board to consider sending the team to Pakistan.

The Zimbabwean minister applauded the smooth conduct of the PSL final and thanked the government for foolproof security arrangements.

Meanwhile, the delegation held meeting with Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Shaharyar Khan on Tuesday.
