RIYADH: Out of over 100 foreigners KSA beheaded (so far in 2024), mostly convicted in smuggling of drugs cases, 21 were Pakistanis.

Countries contributing towards this year’s decapitating century include: 21 Pakistanis, 20 Yemenese, 15 Syrians, 10 Nigerians, 9 Egyptians, 8 Jordanians, 7 Ethiopians, 3 each from Sudan, India, Afghanistan. One each from Sri Lanka, Eriterea and Philippines. During 2022 and 2023 KSA beheaded 68 foreigners (34 each year).

Calling the record-breaking 100+ decapitations of foreigners in 2024, Taha al-Hajji, Legal Director of the Berlin-based European-Saudi Organisation for Human Rights (ESOHR) pointed out that was the largest number of executions of foreigners in one year: “Saudi Arabia has never executed 100 foreigners in a year!”

It is pertinent to mention here a couple of years ago Saudi Arabia ended a three-year moratorium on the execution of drug offenders.
