KARACHI: Seventy-nine Pakistani citizens, who were transported, with the help of diplomatic missions, from Lebanon to Damascus by road, were brought here by means of a special flight on Wednesday (9th October, 2024).
The chartered avion also dispatched a consignment of medicines (weighing 3 tons) from the people of Pakistan for the suffering masses in Lebanon.
79 voyagers also include those 4 Pakistanis who were brought back home from Syria by means of the same plane.
The gravity of the state of affairs could be gauged by the statement of Israeli Foreign Minister (FM) Israel Katz. While commenting on the proposal of 21-day temporary ceasefire on 26th Sept, 2024 he took to the X (Twitter) to assert that there would be no ceasefire in the north.
Katz stated: “We will continue to fight against the Hezbollah organisation with all our strength until victory and the safe return of the residents of the north to their homes.”
It is pertinent to mention here that French FM Jean-Noël Barrot on 25th Sept 2024 said while addressing the 15-member UN Security Council:“A diplomatic solution is indeed possible.
“In recent days, we’ve worked with our American partners on a temporary ceasefire platform of 21 days to allow for negotiations.
“We are counting on both parties to accept it without delay, in order to protect civilian populations and allow for diplomatic negotiations to begin,” Jean-Noël Barrot stated.
People in South Lebanon and Beirut have been asked to evacuate after 274 people (including 21 children and 39 women) lost their lives and 1000 got wounded due to Israeli bombardment on 23rd September, 2024.
The Israeli military claimed hitting “800 Hezbollah terror targets in southern Lebanon and in the area of Bekaa deep inside Lebanese territory” on 23rd September, 2024: “Since this morning, the IDF has conducted proactive and extensive aerial strikes against Hezbollah terrorist targets in Lebanon.”
Talking to Media in his home state of Delaware Joe Biden stated: “We’re going to do everything we can to keep a wider war from breaking out. And we’re still pushing hard.” Ridiculously, US is the biggest supplier of bombs to Israel that are killing women and children in Gaza and Lebanon.
Meanwhile, Chinese diplomatic mission in Israel, asking its citoyens to leave Lebanon ASAP, stated: “Currently, the situation along the Israel-Lebanon border is extremely tense, with frequent military conflict…is unpredictable”.
