LAHORE: LHC’s Justice Shahid Karim has directed the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) by means of a written statement here on Saturday (29th June, 2024) to bar all the agencies (including Intelligence Bureau and Inter-Services Intelligence) from approaching any member of judiciary.
The order was issued following a complaint filed by an Anti-Terrorism Court’s judge in Sargodha against harassment after he said no to any rendezvous with the personnel of intelligence agencies. It is pertinent to mention here that before his elevation to Supreme Court of Pakistan, the then Chief Justice of LHC Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan had taken a suo motu notice on the complaint of the said Sargodha judge.
Justice Karim, during the previous hearing, had remarked that the PM was answerable for the actions of his subordinate agencies. Cynics go haywire when they ponder over the rumors that agencies make and break the governments in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. If there is an iota of truth in such rumors then it seems naive to expect that all-powerful agencies will give much heed to PMOs correspondence.
