Mother confessed stifling 6-year-old Armish: Police

HYDERABAD: The minor girl who was found dead packed in a black plastic bag thrown along the roadside was allegedly killed by her mother.
The Hyderabad police, which untangled the complicated murder case in 2 days, disclosed here on Saturday that mother of 6 years old Armish stifled her to death and later dumped her body on Thursday.
The police said that the suspect Shagufta Aftab confessed the murder during the initial investigation. “She told the police that she killed her daughter due to regular clashes within the family in their home,” a police official said.
She alleged that her husband Muhammad Aftab Arain and her father in law subjected her to brutal assaults very often. Shagufta said she had planned to commit suicide herself after killing her daughter but the fear of death later gripped her.
The police said they identified the suspected killer with the help of the CCTV footage. The footage showed a woman carrying the plastic bag and dumping it on the street’s corner, the police told adding that the same woman clad in a burqa came out from Aftab’s home and entered again after throwing the dead body.
From the footage, the woman’s husband identified her as Shagufta from gait. The woman was taken into the custody while the incident FIR was already lodged at B-Section police station in Latifabad on Friday on the father’s complaint. Aftab told the media that Armish was her only child.
