NAB carves out another case to keep IK, BB inside jail

RAWALPINDI: As soon as the Islamabad court accepted the appeals of Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi against their Iddat convictions and ordered their release on Saturday (13th of July, 2024) NAB carved out a new Toshakhana-related case to make sure that the couple remain incarcerated.

Lawyers of former PM and his wife have immediately moved applicationsfor their bail in the new case.

Meanwhile, workers and office bearers of PTI, who gathered at the greenbelt situated in front of the gate No. 5 of Adiala jail here, had been forcefully moved by police. Since the activists were not allowed to pray inside the mosque there they offered Namaz-e-Maghrib on the road.

It may be recalled that earlier, ADSJ Afzal Majoka here on Saturday (13th July, 2024), while accepting the appeals filed by IK and his wife against their incarceration for seven years in Iddat Case, ordered their release if they are not required in any other case.

“Resume of the above discussion is that complainant has failed to prove his case against both the appellants. Accordingly, both the appeals filed by appellants No.1 & 2 are accepted, judgment of learned trial court dated 03.02.2014 is set-aside and consequently both the appellants are acquitted of the charge.

“They are in custody. They are directed to be released forthwith if not required to be detained in any other case. Release robkar be issued in the name of Superintendent Central Jail Adayala, Rawalpindi.

Record of learned trial court be sent back along with copy of this judgment whereas record of appeals be consigned to record room,” Additional Sessions Judge, (Islamabad-West) Muhammad Afzal Majoka ordered.
