NORTH WAZIRISTAN: Mohsin Dawar, Chief of National Democratic Movement (NDM), has been injured in a firing incident here on Saturday (10th of Feb, 2024).
According to NDM, NA-40 contestant Mohsin Dawar was protesting along with NDM supporters against delay in the announcement of election results when Police resorted to firing and shelling tear gas.
Taking to the Twitter Mohsin Dawar accused FC personnel of rigging: “As of the latest results received so far in my constituency NA-40 North Waziristan, I am leading the polls but there are blatant attempts to rig the final results.
“27 Presiding officers are being held hostage at Shewa Qila. FC Personnel are forcing them to sign blank Form-45.”
However, DPO of Miranshah District, Rokhanzeb Khan claimed that gunmen present in the demonstration opened fire that injured Mohsin Dawar and his three colleagues.
President of Balochistan National Party Akhtar Mengal Tweeted: “Strongly condemn the attack on
Dawar. Everything is being done to change results.
“We stand united with Mohsin Dawar during this time. Prayers for his quick recovery.”
HRCP, condemning the attack on Dawar, stated: “…he was fired on allegedly by security forces, while attempting to reach the RO’s office in Miranshah to obtain the poll results for NA 40.
“At least six others, including minors, were also injured and one police officer reportedly killed.
“This is the second such attack on Mr Dawar since January and reflects yet again the violence that has marred this election, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, affecting political candidates, law enforcement personnel and civilians.
“We demand a prompt and transparent inquiry into this incident.“
Founding Member and chairperson Pakhtunkhwa Organizing Committee, Bushra Gohar took to X (Twitter) to condemn the “cowardly attack on NDM Chairperson Mohsin Dawar and Party workers in North Waziristan.
“Mohsin Ans NDM workers are badly injured. ECP is responsible for this.”
The injured are being provided medical aid at Miranshah Hospital.
PS: Dawar lost against PTI-backed Independent Candidate Aurangzeb who fetched 20,443 votes.
