Pakistan and UK launch new initiative to check money laundering!

ISLAMABAD: Visiting British Home Secretary Sajid Javid has stated that the two countries agreed to track down corruption. 

Addressing a presser held here today, he said that the UK recognized contribution and sacrifices of Pakistan in the war on terror. He said his country was most committed and a strong partner of Pakistan. He said strong bilateral cooperation was necessary to curb the crimes like the flow of illegal money, terrorism, and extremism.

Maintaining that money laundering negatively impacts tax collection, British Home Secretary maintained that checking corruption was a  priority of both the government. He pointed out that black money was a barrier to investment.

Sajid Javid stated that the new partnership on Justice and Accountability would ensure that no one escapes justice and accountability. He also announced to appoint a new UK envoy on Justice and Accountability, who will help cooperation between the two countries on the subject. 

He informed that both the countries have agreed to restart bilateral prisoners transfer agreement to help them serve their sentence close to their families.

British Home Secretary, pointing out that the UK was funding projects to make Pakistan safe, informed that the two sides had exchanged views on security and regional stability. He assured that even after leaving the European Union, his country would maintain and increase the level of access that Pakistan currently has to the UK market.

According to British Home Secretary, more UK based companies have expressed their keen interest to have business with Pakistan. He further assured his country’s support to Pakistan enabling it to meet requirements of Financial Action Task Force.
