LAHORE: When a sizable group of lawyers, demanding dismissal of a terror case against their confrères and shifting of a court to another locale, attempted to enter LHC, 2000 Police personnel on duty there, resorted to use water cannon, fire teargas shells and baton charge to disperse them here on Wednesday (8th May, 2024).

When agitating lawyers retaliated by pelting stones on the cops, one SHO and two constables got injured. This annoyed the Police to the extent that they commenced beating the men in black and arrested 50 of them.

Taking notice of the development, PBC leader Ahsan Bhoon directed the lawyers all over Pakistan to boycott court proceedings of Thursday (9th may, 2024): “A strike has been called for the entire day across Pakistan,” he said.

Taking to the Twitter CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif told that she had directed the IGP to refrain from using force against the lawyers.

“Lawyers must also resolve their matters with LHC amicably. For the safety of the citizens of Lahore, confrontation should be avoided”, the CM instructed.
