ISLAMABAD: While the Accountability Court yet again deferred £190m case verdict against Mr. and Mrs. Imran Khan, PTI said on Sunday (5th Jan 2025) they wanted the Real Decision Makers in the (Form-47) Govt negotiating team.
It seems that the £190m case verdict is not being announced as it could affect the PTI-Govt parleys. On the other hand PTI’s delaying the dialogues manifests that an understanding with the deep state has already been reached.
Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP) Chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai, at a joint presser with MWM Chairman Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, held here om Friday (4th Jan, 2024) wondered what was the point in PTI’s parleys with a government that lacked ‘legitimate mandate’?
It may be recalled that so far two meetings have been held between the PTI and Govt Committees. The third huddle in scheduled next week when PTI negotiators will present their demands after consultation with their incarcerated leader Imran Khan.
The 2nd round of in-camera talks between PTI and the Govt was held in a conducive milieu here on Thursday (2nd January, 2025) with Speaker NA Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in the chair.
Those who participated in the brain storming-session included Leader of the Opposition in NA Omar Ayub, CM of KP Ali Amin Gandapur, PTI MNA Asad Qaiser, Chief of SIC Hamid Raza, MWM Chief Senator Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri and PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja from the opposition.
Ayaz Sadiq informed the Media though in the first huddle it was decided that PTI would present its charter of demands in writing in the second meeting, they still want to consult their incarcerated leader Imran Khan to chalk out the list of demands. Hence the third meeting will be held next week. He read out the joint declaration that says Imran Khan and workers must be released from gaols.
Other demand of PTI is the formation of judicial commission on the 9th May, and 26th Nov 2023 incident. Speaker NA proclaimed: “… the date for the third round of talks will be announced after the PTI committee meets Imran Khan.” It may be recalled that the first round of parleys between Govt Committee and PTI Negotiation Committee was held here on 23rd Dec 2024.
Deputy PM Ishaq Dar, Senator Irfan Siddiqui, Rana Sanaullah, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Syed Naveed Qamar, Abdul Aleem Khan and Dr Farooq Sattar formed the Govt Committee. Whereas, the PTI Committee harboured Asad Qaiser, Raja Nasir Abbas and Sahibzada Hamid Raza. Omar Ayub, Ali Amin, and Salman Akram Raja failed to participate in the discussion due to dates in courts or being abroad. PTI Committee will be presenting its charter of demands in writing on the next rendezvous.
PTI had hailed, on 22nd Dec, the formation of Committee by the Govt on the suggestion of NA speaker to hold talks apropos Imran Khan’s call for civil disobedience if his demands including release of political prisoners and probing 9 May riots via Judicial Commission were not met.
It may be recalled that Chairman PTI Barrister Gauhar called on NA Speaker 21st Dec night maintaining that talks were the only way to figure out a solution to the current stalemate. He asked the speaker to play his role in this regard.
