Rainfall predicted in Karachi, other parts of country




ISLAMABAD: According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), several parts of the country would receive monsoon rainfall on Monday.

PMD has forecast in a statement that seasonal low lies over north Balochistan with its trough extending southeastwards.

“Monsoon currents are penetrating over the country and likely to continue during next couple of days. A westerly wave is likely to approach western parts of the country tonight and persist during next 2-3 days,” said the weather department in the statement.

According to the weather advisory, parts of country including Karachi, Hyderabad, Larkana, Mirpurkhas, Sibbi, Makran, Kalat, Nasirabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Multan and D.G Khan divisions, Islamabad, Hazara, Malakand, Peshawar, Kohat, Mardan, Bannu, and D.I Khan divisions would receive widespread rain/dust-thundershower with isolated heavy falls accompanied by strong gusty winds from Monday.

The weather remained hot and dry in most parts of the Sindh province since last week. However, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Malakand, Quetta divisions, FATA and Kashmir received heavy rainfall.

The highest maximum temperature recorded at Bhakkar, Bahawalnagar, Noorpur Thal and Dadu was 45°C.
