ISLAMABAD: AGP Mansoor Usman Awan has informed NA on Friday (8th March, 2024) that the PHC order apropos the stay on oath-taking of MNAs on reserved seats, applied only to lawmakers from KP.
ISLAMABAD: Oath-taking of MNAs on reserved seats.
________
NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq informed that the house had not received any notice or order from ECP or the PHC regarding the oath-taking of MNAs on reserved seats.
Omar Ayub, asserting that his party deserved the reserved seats, not only expressed concerns regarding their allocation to other parties, but also termed the oath taking as an illegal act sans any standing.
“Today, on behalf of all the opposition members, I demand that the oath should be declared null and void,” Omar Ayub stated.
PTI Chairman Gohar Ali Khan pointing out that his party had joined the SIC and deserved the reserved seats allocated for women and minorities, maintained: “Administering oath before this is the violation of the oath itself and the Constitution.”
Responding to SIC’s Omar Ayub and Gohar Ali Khan’s arguments the AGP said that no one from KPK took oath and that the PHC order for reserved seats did not extend to other provinces.
