ISLAMABAD: Liu Jianchao, Minister of the Int’l Dept of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC), has stated that Security threats were the main hazards disturbing CPEC cooperation.
He was speaking at the meeting of the Pakistan-China Joint Consultative Mechanism (JCM)* as co-chairman here on Friday (21st of June, 2024).
Maintaining that volatile security situation shook the confidence of his country’s investors, he held: “We need to improve security and the business environment...
“In case of Pakistan, the primary factor shaking the confidence of the Chinese investors is the security situation...
“Without security, the business environment, the security of the country, cannot really improve, which may in turn undermine development in the long run...
“And I’m sure that with the joint efforts, Pakistan will continue to be a destination for China’s investors and also for cooperation with the Chinese business people.”
Conspicuous among others there were PPP’s Hina Rabbani Khar, PML (N)’s Ahsan Iqbal, PTI’s Syed Ali Zafar, MQM’s Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and JUI-F’s Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman.

*Established in 2019, the JCM of political parties on CPEC is a regular consultation mechanism between the Communist Party of China and the political parties of Pakistan.
Previous meetings were held on 10th day of March, 2019 in Beijing and on 20th day of August, 2020 virtually (due to pandemic).
