Ships Movement at Port Qasim and KPT

Eight ships, MSC Maria Elena, Maersk  Kensington, Nord Chesapeake, Observator, Pedhouas Trader, Horizon,  Caspian Gas and Lokoja carrying containers, Coal, Soya Bean, Palm  oil, LPG and LNG were arranged berthing at Qasim International  Container Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Port Qasim Electrical Power Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal, Sui Sothern Gas Terminal, and Pakistan Gasport Consortium  Terminal respectively during last 24 hours, said a report issued by  Port Qasim Authority (PQA) here today.
Meanwhile three more ships, MOL Grandeur, Al-Soor-II and Nord Copper carrying Containers, Diesel oil and Coal also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours. Berth occupancy was observed on the high side at the Port Tuesday, where a total of fourteen ships were occupied at PQA berths to load/offload Containers, Rice, Coal, Soya Bean Seeds, Chemicals, LPG, LNG, Palm Kernel and Palm oil respectively. Out of them, three ships, Ogino Park, Arawana and Baltic Light sailed out to sea today morning, and four more ships, Al-Aamriya, Caspian Gas, MOL Grandeur and Maersk Kensington are expected to sail on the same day in the afternoon.
Cargo handling remained an upward trend at the Port on Tuesday, where a cargo volume of 236,207 tonnes, comprising 219,319 tonnes imports cargo and 16,889 tonnes export cargo, inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 4,486 Containers (TEUs), (3,705 TEUs imports and 781  TEUs exports) was handled. Three ships, MOL Grandeur, Al-Soor-II and White Purl carrying Containers, Diesel oil, and LPG are expected to take berths at QICT, FOTCO, and EVTL respectively on Wednesday. While two more Container Vessels Torrente and Hansa America are due to arrive at PQ on Thursday.

CARGO HANDLING TURNOVER:
The total cargo handled at Karachi Port during the last 24 hours closed at 133,895 metric tons. The breakup shows that the port has handled 50,895 metric tons of export cargo and 82,980 metric tons of import cargo during the said period. Commodity wise handling in metric tons is given below.
