Sindh CM reshuffles cabinet, appoints 15 PPP leaders as special assistants

KARACHI: Four MPAs (Sajid Jokhio, Giyan Chand Esrani, Ziauddin Abbas Rizvi, Jam Khan Shoro) were sworn in on Thursday 5th of August as new ministers at an oath-taking ceremony at the Governor House.

Sindh Governor Imran Ismail administered the oaths taken by the new ministers in a ceremony that was attended by CM Minister Murad Ali Shah and an number of PPP and PTI members. During the very event Fayyaz But, Manzoor Hussain Wassan and Rasool Bux Chandio were appointed as the aides of CM Sindh who had also appointed 15 PPP leaders as his special assistants. Three ministers – Sohail Anwar Sial, Hari Ram and Faraz Dero – were shown the door.

CM Sindh reshuffled the portfolios of a number of ministers: Ismail Rahu has been appointed Minister for Universities and Boards, Environment and Coastal Development; Makhdoom Mehboob has been appointed Minister for Revenue; Saeed Ghani has been given the portfolio of Labor and Information Department; Syed Sardar Shah has been made the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Education.

Syed Nasir Shah has been appointed Minister of Local Govt, Housing, Town Planning and Public Engineering; Jam Ikram gets the protfolio of Industries and Cooperation; Sajid Jokhio will look after the Social Welfare;  Giyan Chand Esrani will be looking after the Minority Affairs;  Jam Khan Shoro will be responsible for Irrigation; Ziauddin Abbas Rizvi will handle Works and Services.

Advisors & their portfolios: CM has allocated/reallocated portfolio of  Law and Spokesperson for government to Murtaza Wahab, Prison to Aijaz Jakhrani, Agriculture to Manzoor Wassan, Zakat Ushr & Religious Affairs to Fayaz Butt and Rehabilitation & Relief to Rasool Bux Chandio.
Special Assistants: The chief minister has allocated/reallocated portfolios to 15 special assistants as follows:Waqar Mehdi Political Affairs and CMIT, Qasim Naveed Investment department and Public Private Partnership Projects, Bungul Khan Maher Wildlife and Enquiries & Anti-Corruption Establishment, Tanzeela Umi Habiba Information Technology dept, Liaquat Ali Askani Katchi Abadies/Human Settlement dept, Sadhumal Surender Valasi Human Rights dept, Sadiq Ali memon Person with Disabilities dept, Paras Dero Youth Affairs dept, Ali Ahmed Jan Matters relating to District West, Mohammad Asif Khan Matters relating to District Keamari, Salman Abdullah Murad Matters relating to District Malir, Iqbal sandh Matters relating to District East, Saghir Qureshi Matters relating to Hyderabad City and Arslan Islam shaikh Matters relating to Sukkur City.

Meanwhile, adviser to Chief Minister on Law & Environment and provincial government’s spokesperson Barrister Murtaza Wahab Siddiqui has been appointed as KMC administrator. According to a notification issued by the Sindh Local Government Department on Thursday 5th of August, 2021 former administrator Laeeq Ahmed has been relieved of his charge with immediate effect. Murtaza Wahab, while talking to the Media here, stated that he would attempt to solve the issues of Karachi and  would take all stakeholders on board.

It is pertinent to mention here that PPP-P’s current move is to make sure that municipal services of the Metropolis are ameliorated before the local bodies elections. He took to the Twitter to state: “I am grateful to Chairman Bilawal, President Zardari, Adi Faryal & CM Sindh for giving me the opportunity to serve my city. It is an honor for me & my entire family & Insha’Allah I will do my best to serve Karachi.”
