Sir Syed Ahmed Khan died 121 years ago

KARACHI: One of the founding fathers of Pakistan, scholar &  educationist Sir Syed Ahmed Khan died today 121 years ago in Aligarh. 

He was born on 17th October 17, in Delhi and after schooling pursued a career as a civil servant. Following the 1857 mutiny, he noted that Muslims needed to ameliorate their level of education and learn English and Modern Sciences in order to emerge from the abyss of poverty and augment the social and political levels.

With an objective of establishing an institution in line with the British system of education sans comprising the Islamic values, he founded Madarsatul Uloom in Aligarh and patterned the MAO College after Oxford and Cambridge.

Sir Syed Ahmed Khan has instituted All India Muslim Educational Conference to revive the spirit of Muslims at the national level and motivated Muslims to establish many modern educational institutes. He penned a number of books including one deciphering the causes of 1857 mutiny Tareekh-e-Asbaab-e-Baghawat.
