WASHINGTON (ROTUNDA OF CAPITOL): 78-year-old Donald Trump took the oath of office as the 47th president of the United States on the Martin Luther King Jr. Day (20th Jan 2025).
Trump on his inaugural speech said that during his second tenure his administration would make the Martin Luther King Jr.’s Dream come true. He thanked the coloured people who voted for him. He said during the next four years his administration will forge a society that is colour blind and merit based.
He said he would declare a national emergency on the southern (US-Mexican) border. All illegal entries will end and all the millions and millions of illegal aliens will be caught and released to the place from where they entered the US. He said all foreign gangs and cartels will designated as foreign terrorist organisations.
Trump said he would ask his cabinet to bring the inflation down. He said that he would declare a National Energy Emergency (Drill Baby Drill to extract fossil fuel as US happens to harbor largest energy reserves. He said that he would transform the US into a manufacturing nation again. Speaking about American auto workers, Trump said that US would build automobiles and sell at a low price.
He said that US will tax foreign countries to enrich US citizens by means of external revenue service: “I will immediately begin the overhaul of our trade system to protect American workers and families. Instead of taxing our citizens to enrich other countries, we will tariff and tax foreign countries to enrich our citizens.”
He promised to bring back free speech to America alongwith fair equal and impartial justice under the constitution and the rule of law. He promised to restore patriotism and build the world’s strongest military.
“As of today, it will henceforth be the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders, male and female. This week, I will reinstate any service members who were unjustly expelled from our military for objecting to the Covid vaccine mandate with full back pay and I will sign an order to stop our warriors from being subjected to radical political theories and social experiments while on duty. It’s going to end immediately. Our armed forces will be free to focus on their sole mission: defeating America’s enemies.”
President Trump said that the Panama Canal was a “foolish gift that should have never been made” to Panama. According to him it is being operated by China: “We didn’t give it to China. We’re taking it back”. (The matter of fact is that after US, China is the largest user of Panama Canal. Since Chinese commercial entities are using 21.4 percent of Panama Canal’s cargo volume, its presence is visible.) He further said that the name of the Gulf of Mexico would soon be changed to the Gulf of America.
Trump spoke about the release of 3 hostages held by Hamas in Gaza and pointed out that happened a day before his taking oath. He said he would be a peacemaker and unifier: “America will reclaim its rightful place as the greatest, most powerful, most respected nation on earth, inspiring the awe and admiration from the entire world.” He vowed to send astronauts to Mars: “We will pursue our manifest destiny into the stars, to plant the stars and stripes on planet Mars.”
