Eid-ul-Fitr: Pakistan Railways partially resumes its operations

LAHORE: In order to facilitate the people ion the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr (2020), Pakistan Railways has partially resumed its countrywide train operation from today (Wednesday).

The train operations were suspended following the federal government’s lockdown due to the novel coronavirus situation in the country.

“The first train has now departed from Lahore to Rawalpindi,” said Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed in a statement. “Pakistan Express left from Rawalpindi to Karachi and Railcar to Lahore from Rawalpindi. Subak Kharam departed from Lahore to Rawalpindi.”

The minister said that the railways ministry has order all the stations to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

“All precautionary measures have been taken at railway stations,” he said, adding that ticket booking system was available online only.
