Journalist/politician Mushahid Hussain Sayed took to the X (Twitter) to hold: “In what is probably the biggest election upset in Pakistan’s political history in the last 50 years, extremely important that the ‘February 8 Surprise’ be transformed into an opportunity for a much-needed Healing Touch reinforcing National Unity & Stability by respecting Popular Will & Mandate of People of Pakistan! Repeating mistake of 2018 polls, when Election Commission’s RTS suddenly conked off before midnight, with results withheld, would be a recipe for disaster!”

Former PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi Tweeted: “The people of Pakistan have spoken, loudly and clearly; any attempt to manipulate their mandate will result in unsustainable chaos.
The heat of the electoral process has passed; it is time to allow the country to heal.
The political leadership – Mian Nawaz Sharif, Asif Ali Zardari, Imran Khan, Maulana Fazal ur Rehman, and others – must rise above petty politics and work together to confront the immense challenges our country is facing; they need to recognise that history is not kind to selfish politicians.”
Taking to the X (Twitter) HRCP stated that it deplored the delay in announcement of election results, “which, under Rule 84 of the Election Rules, should have been communicated by the returning officers to the ECP by 2 AM this morning and made public shortly thereafter.
“If, under the Rules, the returning officers had incomplete results by this time, they were legally bound to tell the ECP why, also indicating which vote counts were still awaited.
“This lack of transparency is deeply concerning. Moreover, we see no plausible reason to attribute this delay to any extraordinary circumstances that might justify it.”
