PML-N demands resignation of PM post-sugar inquiry report

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Imran Khan after the sugar inquiry commission made the report of hike in sugar prices public and revealed the names of those who profited from it.

The inquiry commission named Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leaders, Jahangir Tareen and Khusro Bakhtiar in the report and stated that the two earned millions in the amount of subsidy.

PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb said that PM Khan had said that he would punish those named in the sugar inquiry report. But he is now ‘missing’.

“He [PM Khan] had made the statement before the public that he will fulfil his promise to punish all those who were the reason behind hike in sugar prices. But he is now hiding and avoiding talking about the report. He should now fulfil his promise or resign if he can’t do anything,” the PML-N stalwart said while talking to the media.

Marriyum went on to say that the PTI government was doing nothing to fight with the novel coronavirus but just making the statements.

“The incompetent and corrupt government has changed four health secretaries in three months. The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has become a victim of Imran Khan’s ego and has not yet become fully functional. The inept government has destroyed the health department just like all other sectors,” she said.
