PARIS: The first edition of Arab Week, held at UNESCO on November 4th and 5th, concluded on a triumphant note with 22 Arab countries showcasing their culture.

This event, initiated by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and supported by the Arab Group at UNESCO, successfully created a true bridge between cultures, revealing the unexpected richness of the artistic and cultural heritage of the Arab world.

Thus, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia supported the participation of 22 Arab countries, allowing for the presentation of a rich cultural and historical heritage that spans millennia, imbued with noble and ancient values.

For two days, the Ségur Hall at UNESCO was transformed into a vibrant souk, offering a sensory immersion into the heart of Arab traditions.

Visitors could stroll among the craft stalls, inhale the enchanting scents of incense and Damascus roses, and even watch a falconer demonstrate his skills.

Calligraphy workshops provided a chance to discover this ancient art, while fashion shows highlighted the diversity and beauty of traditional costumes from various Arab regions.

Beyond the festive aspects, Arab Week also offered a rich program of conferences and discussions. Experts addressed crucial topics such as the preservation of intangible cultural heritage and the safeguarding of protected sites, often unknown to the general public. These discussions raised awareness about the importance of protecting these cultural treasures.

The closing ceremony, themed Bridges (جسور و جرس), was truly a spectacle. An impressive choreographic performance, featuring 22 dancers representing the Arab states, illustrated unity in the diversity of the Arab world.

Traditional music and symbolic songs complemented this magical moment, celebrating the history and deep bonds that unite the Arab nations.

A dinner cocktail concluded Arab Week, offering a delightful gastronomic retrospective. Participants had the opportunity to savor iconic dishes from the 22 represented countries, showcasing the hospitality and refinement of Arab cuisine.

As a result, this first Arab Week at UNESCO proved to be a resounding success, laying the foundations for an enriched intercultural dialogue and greater recognition of the immense cultural heritage of the Arab world.

The event not only captivated its audience but also eloquently demonstrated the unifying power of cultural sharing and discovery, bringing people together in a collective celebration of diversity. It thus stands as a testament to the unifying strength of kindness, essential for fostering love through culture, knowledge, and mutual respect.

In conclusion, may this first edition be only the beginning of an exciting intercultural journey, dedicated to mutual understanding. For it is together, in respect and discovery of one another, that we can build a more harmonious future for all.
